Many people can talk about “fighting back”
but how many have actually done it? William J. Kelly has never been “just talk.” He’s never “hidden”
behind a microphone. He’s never taken a no-bid contract or looted the public trough. He’s never waited for an
idea to be popular. And he’s never played it safe. Not one day or one second. For more than twenty
years, taxpayer watchdog William J. Kelly has been on the frontlines of advocacy. He was the former Executive Director of
National Taxpayers United of Illinois and organized statewide petition drives on behalf of Illinois citizens demanding fairness
and equity. In 1994, Kelly exposed the fact that Rep. Bobby Rush failed to pay more than $50,000 in back
taxes, parking tickets, and child support – a fact that had been unreported by the general media. He filed a federal
lawsuit against the first and fourth congressional districts opposing the irregular drawing of the districts as unconstitutional
and since then has been a consistent figure of protest and advocacy, testifying on issues ranging from the Gitmo detainees
and their transfer to Thomson Correction Center to his victory in opposing anti-religious displays in the Illinois State Capitol.
In 2010, he ran statewide for Illinois Comptroller on a platform demanding full transparency and an end to the corrupt public
procurement process. Today, William J. Kelly continues to be an outspoken defender of the First Amendment
rights of free speech, freedom of the press, and opponent of media bias. He currently pens the popular Bill Kelly’s
Truth Squad and the Tea Party Report for the Communities at the DC daily Washington Times newspaper, where his stories have
gone viral with more than 500,000 views. He is also a contributor to national publications like the American Spectator and
Breitbart.com. Previously, he was the “Antenna” media columnist for Screen Magazine and penned the colorful “Man
about Town” society column for TCW Magazine. A TV and radio industry veteran, Kelly is a producer of Emmy award-winning
television and was also nominated for a personal Emmy for outstanding achievement on-camera. Kelly is a graduate
of Loyola University of Chicago and the Rome Center in Italy. He received a B.A. in political science and minored in communications.
He is a native of the Southside Chicago neighborhood of Beverly and lives with his wife, Laura, in Streeterville, which he
has called home for ten years. Source: http://www.friendsofwilliamjkelly.com/aboutBill.html Visit Bill at www.KellyTruthSquad.com
